From Insa-Dong

I went Insa-Dong yesterday to look around the photo galleries. These days, we have an exbibition called 'Wake Up' hosted by Kimyoungseup Gallery. And also Gallery Lux, Gallery Now were following Kim youngseup the most renowned photo gallery.

In fact, Photograph was considered as applied or secondary one, not a serious field of fine art even years ago. Of course, there are great photographers such as Andres Serrano, Euge'ne Atget, Ansel Adams, Bill Brandt, Gyula halasz Brassai, Robert Capa, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Eanst Hssa and so on who dedicated themselves to the considerable and insightful photo art history. By virtue of their devotion to this realm, we think of photo as a big part of fine art. Futher more, even conventional artists have expanded their domains into being more adventurous and experimental, with have photo, fabric or any other objet put in their frames. Technics and Phenomenon which painting invades the territory of photo and vice versa are not strange to us any more.

So, a tryout of 'Wake up' is very familiar for us, showing new interpretation or exploration. We came to have more than 10 photo professional glleries in seoul and Gyungi provice, recently. Artistic photographers want to deliver their intention through the camera lens and subject. Sometimes, the camera expresses the subject being awkward or weird differently from our traditional expectation we have had for a long time. The subject the photographers took pictured stared at us uncomfortably. And we audience enjoy the strangeness because we are qualified with being stunned at new world they created.

This place have us saturated with beauty and high classical aroma. I stroke my camera and look into the lens for the time being, tonight. There is a distorted but perfect world inside it.
